State Grants Funds To Old Bridge Housing for Disabled

I have new information for you regarding subsidized housing in Old Bridge New Jersey for individuals suffering from brain injuries. A total of $1.5 million in Home Express Funds has been awarded by the state Department of Community Affairs to Old Bridge and Pennrose Properties Inc. for the construction of the planned Chuck Costello Independent Living Center. You can read my earlier post on the facility here. The Suburban article on the state grant can be read here.

  1. I need to help someone who has a brain injury as a result of an accident. He is 54 years old and unable to work because of the accident. He has no money and has been given free housing by a friend. This housing has now become unavailable and he will be homeless with in 2 weeks. He has no money for an apartment. He gets a small amount of social security money which is not enough for housing. Is there a gov’t program, private fund or something that could provide housing or finacing for housing? He is located in the Lakewood, NJ area. Any advise would be appreciated.

  3. Tom –

Thank you for your question. I would contact the Brain Injury Association of New Jersey. They are great advocates for brain injured individuals and will have a wealth of information about programs in the state that may be able to assist your friend. Their website is http://www.bianj.org.
