Propsed Bill Would Cut Funding for People with Disabilities

I just received this information from the Brain Injury Association of New Jersey.

United States Senate Bill No. 1932

This bill, if passed, can have a negative impact on funding for services for people with brain injury. Therefore, we need to contact our representatives and urge them to oppose United States Senate Bill No. 1932.

This bill would cut funding for services needed by vulnerable people with disabilities – including people with brain injury and their families – who rely on Medicaid, TANF and SSI.

Contact your Congressman and urge him to oppose Senate Bill No. 1932. The House of Representatives is expected to vote on this bill in late January or early February.

Please vote AGAINST Senate Bill No. 1932 which is expected to voted on by the Unites States House of Representatives in late January or early February.

This bill will adversely affect future spending for services important to people with brain injury and their families such as Medicaid, Medicare, and Supplemental Security Income. Specifically, the bill:

? cuts funding by approximately $4.8 million over 5 years;

? increases Medicaid co-payments and premiums;

? delays certain Supplemental Security Income payments for up to a year for many poor individuals with disabilities who are found eligible for Supplemental Security Income

(Offer your own story related to brain injury and/or how cuts in these programs can impact you.)

Please vote against this bill.

Thank you.
