Possible Blood Biomarkers for TBI
Ron Hayes, PhD, Banyan Biomarkers, Inc. has written an article entitled, Possible Blood Biomarkers for TBI, which highlights Banyan Biomarkers, Inc.’s research efforts to develop a basic point of care blood test for use in emergency departments to determine if an injury occurred and its severity.
Although this is a promising area of research into an objective way to diagnose a brain injury, there is still a lot of research that needs to be done. The hope is this type of testing would remove the uncertainty of diagnosis through clinical symptoms or imaging, both of which are important, but show definite limitations and would also help to expedite in determining the level of treatment an individual receives.
