Old Bridge New Jersey unanimously approves housing plan for brain injured adults

The Suburban reported on July 1, 2004, that the Old Bridge Zoning Board of Adjustment approved the construction of a 61-unit apartment building.

The apartment building will provide an independent living area for individuals and their families who suffer from traumatic brain injuries, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis or muscular dystrophy. The rent stabilized facility will be the first of its type in Middlesex County, making Old Bridge one of New Jersey’s few municipalities which provides such services to brain injured people.

  1. hello,

i would like to know who pays for the apartments?

do they accept workers compensation ?

can a brain injured person live with a boyfriend that provides support and transportation for them in one of these apartments ?

    thank you

  2. Thank you for your questions. Just so you know, the facility has not been constructed as of yet. I believe that the completion date is sometime in 2006. However, I do know that rent for a one-bedroom unit would run $640 per month, a two-bedroom unit would go for $750, and a three-bedroom unit could be leased for $860 monthly.

For more information, you should contact the Middlesex County Housing Authority. Their website is http://co.middlesex.nj.us/housing/contact.asp. The name of the center is the Chuck Costello Independent Living Center.
