Mix of Disease Process in Brain Leads to Dementia

A recent study by the National Institutes of Health states that a person’s likelihood of suffering from dementia in their later years, increases with the presences of other diseases, such as Parkinson’s Disease, traumatic brain injury and strokes. The researchers state that increased amounts of trauma to the brain in other forms, increases the risk of the brain being affected by dementia.

The researchers believe that public health initiatives to prevent and treat vascular disease could potentially reduce the number of dementia cases in the future.
