Device helps those with brain injuries reclaim their lives

The Automated Pegboard 2000, a machine that resembles a child’s geometric puzzle, helps brain-injury patients rebuild motor functions. Retired Army Col. Ramon Sanchez, a patient in Albuquerque, New Mexico who suffered from a traumatic brain injury in the months following his 2003 stroke was unable to regain some normal functions post injury such as walking.

For the most part, even getting out of bed in the morning was too much for Sanchez. But now, thanks to the Automated Pegboard 2000, Sanchez is on his way to a full recovery – something most doctors didn’t believe was possible for him.

The Automated Pegboard 2000 is now being considered and tested for the other hundreds of thousands of service men and women returning from service who now suffer from traumatic brain injuries.
