Brain Injury Association of America’s Awareness Campaign

The theme of this year’s Brain Injury Association of America’s Awareness Campaign is Brain Injury: As Diverse as We Are.  Most people don’t realize the very diverse range of brain injuries suffered by people across the nation. According to the Brain Injury Association of America:

  • Every 23 seconds a brain injury occurs
  • 1.4 million people in the US sustain a brain injury each year
  • 50,000 die, 235,000 are hospitalized, and 1.1 million are treated in emergency rooms
  • 5.3 million Americans are now living with a disability due to a brain injury

The goal of this year’s campaign is to educate the public about brain injuries in hopes of improving the lives of individuals living with traumatic brain injuries, and their families.
