Botox Aids Stroke Victims

Though a stroke is not the type of brain injury I usually write about on this blog, I though readers might find this interesting.

The Star Ledger reported that Botox treatments have aided stroke victims and improved their ability to move.  In some stroke patients, Botox has reduced spasticity in the joints, relaxing the muscles and allowing them to use limbs that had previously been paralyzed.

The Kessler Institute in West Orange, NJ, was one of 35 facilities that participated in the study of the drugs effects on stroke victims.  One of the lead study investigators is Elie Elovic, director of Traumatic Brain Injury Research at Kessler.
