Bill to Reauthorize the TBI Act Approved by Senate HELP Committee

On Wednesday June 27, 2007 the Senate Health, Education Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee approved S. 739, the Reauthorization of the Traumatic Brain Injury Act, during a Committee meeting. The Brain Injury Association of America and The Brain Injury Association of New Jersey, as well as other state organizations, have been working with other key advocacy groups to push this legislation through in order to ensure the bill is passed.

The Brain Injury Association of America wrote letters to the Senate HELP Committee’s Chairman, Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA) and Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) requesting full consideration and increased support for the bill.

The bill was approved by a voice vote and will now move to the Senate floor. The Brain Injury Association of America will urge Members of Congress to also favorably consider House Resolution 1418 (HR 1418), sponsored by Representative Bill Pascrell of New Jersey, for consideration by the House Energy Commerce Committee.
