Advances in Postacute Rehabilitation After Childhood-Required Brain Injury: A Focus on Cognitive, Behavioral and Social Domains (authors Anderson V, Catroppa C) was published in the Association of Academic Physiatrists‘s September 2006 American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Traditional thinking is that children recover well from brain injury. This review of that thinking show that children often suffer from residual impairments – physical, congnitivie, educational and behavioral.  Also discussed is the fact that most rehabilitation is based on adult models, and the special development needs of children are not always taken into account.
