Workers exposed to lead show more cognitive problems later in life
I found an interesting article online recently which discussed the correlation between lead exposure and brain injury. For elderly people, a higher level of lead in the brain from earlier exposure can lead to greater cognitive problems after the age of 55. A full report on lead buildup in the brain appeared in the January issue of Neuropsychology.
The report is from the Graduate School of Public Health and the School of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. The researchers state that cognitive problems were linked to cumulative exposure. You can read more on the report online here.
