2007 Concussion Baseline Testing Grants Announced

I recently wrote on a new test that will be used in schools across the country to better determine and treat traumatic brain injuries in student athletes. The test, called ImPACT, measures the severity of concussions, which will better enable doctors to diagnose patients and better assist them in their treatment options.

The program will begin with baseline tests for all student athletes. Then, when a head trauma occurs, another test will be given. Doctors can then compare the two tests to see the specific areas that have been damaged, and will then have a better idea of how to treat the exact problem.

63 high schools in the state of New Jersey have received grants, which will enable them to implement these baseline tests. You can find the complete list of high schools here.
